Settling In

It has been about 2 1/2 weeks here in Sausalito and we are finally settling in and adjusting to our new routines.  Lacy is her usual happy self and you can probably see by the picture that she is putting on weight.  She is now up to 12lbs which is about right for 14 weeks.  She is now fully on formula as all my attempts to bring Lacy back to nursing have failed.  Working and caring for Lacy has not been as hard as I had anticipated.  She has become a pretty routine baby and rarely veers away from it.  It has allowed me the flexibility to schedule my day and calls around her wake/sleep time.  She is sleeping most nights from 10pm-9am (with the exception of this mornings 6:30am wakeup).  During the day she eats every 3 hours and takes an hour and a half nap during each 3 hour cycle.  She enjoys sitting in her Bumbo seat and watching Mommy do chores around the house, or is content to sit in her bouncy seat and watch Mommy on the computer.  One of her favorite activities is looking in the mirror and seeing her image and that of her Mom or Dad.  She smiles like crazy and sounds like she is working up to a full giggle.

On Friday Ryan, Lacy and I took a trip down to the marina in Sausalito where they host a jazz concert every Friday on the waterfront.  It was a really warm and almost windless night (unusual from what we can tell for Sausalito).  We walked along the docks and grabbed a bite to eat at a little cafe by the water.  At the cafe they had another jazz ensemble and we sat right next to them as they played the saxophone, bongos, guitar and electric keyboard.  Lacy was entranced.  She especially took to the man playing the bongos.  She would smile and flirt as he tapped away on that delightful instrument!  I would venture to say that Lacy was probably this man's youngest fan.

Saturday Ryan and I finished up some 'to dos' around the house that we just hadn't had the time to get to and then Ryan took Lacy on her first fishing trip.  It was  quick one just down to the waterfront.  Ryan in his lucky hat and Lacy in the BOB.  They went at high tide, but didn't have much luck.  Ryan's bait trap had been stolen (the one he set out the previous night) so basically he was left to just throw in a hook!  We suspect the thief was one of the many 'greenies' that populate this area and can't stand the harming of an animal (including a minnow).  Regardless, Lacy and Ryan had a good time and were able to have a 'daddy and me' bonding experience.

Today we are headed into the city.  Our plan is to take the 11am ferry into town and explore the Marina area of San Fran.  There should be lots to see and we are hoping that Lacy will be able to watch the sea lions on Pier 39.  We will have to share pictures of today's trip in our next blog.
