We Do Not Remember Days, We Remember Moments...

A Fear of Bugs or Toe Fuzz?

Last night, Ryan and I experienced a side of Lacy we have never seen before in her 20 months of life. While putting her pajamas on before bed, she noticed some fuzz that came from her socks stuck in her toes. Ryan pulled it out, and at that point, the most intense fear took over our little girl and she became hysterical. She began clinging to me and clawing at me to keep her in my arms. She was inconsolable. She didn't want to be put down and was screaming no, no, no. Her heart was racing and she was sweating. She was terrified, but we had no idea of what....toe fuzz?

We have started to see that she has become afraid of certain things lately, but not this intensely. She does not like bugs, specifically spiders. We seem to be in the middle of spider breeding season out here and we have some very large, very ugly spiders, spinning webs outside our house. These are not your every day, run of the mill house spider--these things are huge! They are not the kind you just smoosh either. Needless to say, she does not like to look at them and runs when she sees them. Her response..."fly bug fly"--presumably far, far away from her.

It took us an hour to settle her down after checking to make sure there was no sign of injury or a fever, etc. She is completely fine this morning, so it leads me to believe that she thought that perhaps there was a bug on her foot and that was just too close for her to handle. I felt so helpless watching her battle through her fear of TOE FUZZ.

**Note: Picture above is the spider species that haunts our house. If that is not creepy I don't know what is!**

Root Root Root For The Home Team

Way to go Phillies! Lacy enjoyed watching her first baseball game and participating in putting on our 'rally' caps. We look forward to seeing those Phillies in the World Series.

Climb

We have one physical girl. She does not slow down to catch her breath, there is little to no time to stop and smell the roses, she wants to see and do it all. To echo Forrest Gump--"From that day on, if I was ever going somewhere, I was running!"

Lacy's most favorite word (apart from Momma or Dadda) is climb. This girl climbs everywhere, on anything. Everything is a seat, a stool, a chair, or a ladder. For someone who may be 'height challenged', like her mother, she can get into and onto anything if she puts her mind to it.

A week or two ago, I heard giggles coming from our bedroom while I was trying to make lunch for Lacy. Since giggles often times mean someone is getting into something they shouldn't I went to investigate. The above shot is what I found when I rounded the corner into our bathroom. Not only had she climbed on top of the toilet, but had taken down the toilet paper roll and shredded it into pieces. Ahhh......I couldn't help but laugh and get in on the fun. What did Lacy have to say for herself? CLIIIIIMB!
