12 Month Stats

Yesterday was Lacy's 1 year checkup and all is well. She is growing like a weed, although she has slowed down in the height category. That doesn't surprise me when her Mom stands at 5' 1" on a good day and was almost always the shortest one in the class.

Stats:

Height: 29 1/4 inches
Weight: 21 1/2 pounds

We will most likely get another ultrasound at around 15-18 months for Lacy's enlarged ureter, but the doctor expects that she will just gradually grow out it. Since Lacy has had no symptoms and never experienced any urinary tract infections and the VCUG came back normal he suspects that this is just hereditary and either Ryan or I have this same condition, or had it as a child. In fact, we might go through the same thing with our next child.

In other news, Lacy took a few steps yesterday at the dr's office and then later again at home when Dad was around. I wouldn't quite yet call it walking. I will hold off on the 'walking' label until she takes at least 4 or 5 steps. We are hoping that if she does indeed walk this week it is before Ryan leaves on his week long trip overseas. I know he would be heartbroken if he missed it.

Keep you posted!

Quack, Quack, Quack

Our latest milestone, besides the 8th and 9th tooth popping up and causing Mom & Dad lots of sleepless nights, is Lacy's acknowledgement of animal sounds. When we ask her what a doggie says, we get a version of woof, woof, woof. When we ask her what a duckie says we get a version of quack, quack, quack. Lastly, she now growls when asked what a bear says. Of course, if she sees a doggie or hears a doggie she will also make her version of a bark. It is absolutely adorable and if I can get it on video I will make sure to post on the blog.

We had a great visit to Carmel, although it seems that Lacy knows when Mom & Dad are trying to relax, and thus she either gets sick or decides that she should get 3 or 4 teeth at once. Needless to say, times were tough for us, but the weather did not disappoint and the scenery was gorgeous. We took Lacy to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and she loved every minute of it. So much to see. She loved the fish, she loved the birds, the otters, and she even got her own personal visit with a scuba diver in one of the big fish tanks. We enjoyed it as well, and decided that we will have to go back regularly as it is only a 2 hour drive from home.

Ryan and I were able to get away yesterday afternoon for a few hours to catch San Francisco's production of Wicked. For those of you haven't seen it, it is absolutely worth the cost to see in NYC or any of the traveling productions throughout the US. Even my husband (not a musical theatre guy) enjoyed the show immensely. It was a nice break for Mom & Dad, but we were excited to get back to our little girl, although it appears she didn't even realize we had left!

First Haircut

Happy Valentines Day Everyone! What says Valentines Day more than venturing out to The Panda Room for Lacy's first haircut....which by way, if you have seen her in the last six months, was long overdue.

Waiting to be seen:

Here we go:

Now for the styling:

All Done:

What's Hot, What's Not-11 Months

We have updated our monthly "What's Hot-What's Not" list for Lacy. Some things have changed, some are still the same. We are gearing up for her first birthday in only 2 weeks. Time has flown for her mom and dad and we are learning how to cope with the fact that we will soon be parents of a toddler!

What's Hot: Chasing Harley, Harley's toys, Harley's food bowl, barking like a dog and pointing at dogs on our walks, finding the toilet paper roll, playing in Mom and Dad's closet, being chased by Mom or Dad, tackling Mom or Dad, sharing or showing anything and everything, pointing at every object in her room, opening drawers, stuffed animals, Mom's diaper bag, searching for her birthday presents, wriggling herself away from her parents when she wants to get at something, splashing in the bathtub, cruising from one object to another, Kindermusik, kisses, and her all time favorite: dancing.

What's Not: diaper changes, pooping (still), algebra, being whisked away from something potentially dangerous, hats, the vacuum or dustbuster, walking and/or standing on her own, drinking from a sippy cup, calculus.

Seventh Tooth

Another month, another tooth! Tooth number 7 has broken through. For those of you keeping count she has 4 on top and 3 on the bottom now. She got her 3rd bottom tooth just in time to devour her first cupcake on her first birthday!
